Some Reads Change Everything.

I remember waking up in the middle of the night a few weeks back. I’m a digital nomad of sorts. I work, live, and function from the dim glow of my laptop screen. I often wake up unable to hold onto the sleep I crave. I have heard all the “experts” saying, “don’t look at a screen unless you want never sleep again.”

I assume these particular experts live a life filled with over-active melatonin production and no need to get some work done and pay mortgages.

Or perhaps, in their early life, the influencers that surrounded them were the kind that helped them achieve and thrive in life — growing up trusting others to care and help them. Teaching them there is nothing to worry about or care about in this world. Everything is always well. I often find my jealousy over other’s ability to be well balanced is hard to control. How can they sleep at night? How do they live without hurt and anger? Have they ever actually met another person?

This night was different than most. I didn’t wake up to work on a book cover or interior designs or even on my own writing. I woke up to read a book whose copy had arrived earlier that day.

You can get “The Stuck Stops Here” on Amazon.

Before bed, I had scanned through the book and decided it deserved a spot in my read soon stack. I now found myself unable to sleep or get my mind off this book.

The Stuck Stops Here is one of a handful of books that helped me to look at my life in a new way. It didn’t gloss over hurts or create extra anger to pile onto the damage so you could be angrily justified.

The first copy I read was actually a word document. It was going to be a few weeks before the design and printing were done for Tami's book. I didn't want to wait, so I snuck a preview read and called it "research".

It allowed me to experience someone else’s journey, to see what encouraged them along the way, and how they found a balance that makes closing your eyes at night a little easier. It also makes keeping them closed through the night an actual possibility.

Tami’s book didn’t make my life perfect and happy. It did let me know I wasn’t alone in the struggle. Not being alone on a difficult journey can be the difference between giving up or surviving.

This book may even help you keep going, survive and thrive.

Is there a book that has changed your outlook or moved your heart? Tell us about it, in the comments below. We are always looking for great stories and amazing books to read.

Do you have a story that’s been written? You have been trying to figure out the process of telling it to the world and it’s gotten overwhelming. How do I self-publish? Do I really need to get a second mortgage just to have a beautiful book? I’m not really even sure my book is good enough to publish.

Send me an email. This is legitimately John Edgar writing this article. The guy behind designing The Stuck Stops Here. I exist as a storyteller. I love hearing people’s stories, and I exist to help them tell those stories. The process doesn’t have to feel impossible. All you need is someone to walk with you. I take that walk with friends quite frequently. If your story happens to be the next one I am supposed to help tell, we make it work. It rarely involves a second mortgage.
